Frequently Asked Questions - Main
Buying / Shipping
- Do you ship internationally?{|}Yes. We have a flat rate of $135 for 5 pairs if you live somewhere other than the US or Canada. Unfortunately, we do require a minimum purchase of 5 snowshoes to ship internationally.
- Do I receive a tracking number with my order?{|}Yes. We ship via Canada Post Expedited Parcel for Canadian orders, and via UPS for US orders; both of these companies provide tracking numbers for packages.
- Are there taxes on my purchase?{|}We are legally required to charge taxes to Canadian residents. The rates differ depending on your province/territory. US and International customers are exempt from paying taxes.
- Why are your snowshoes less expensive than most other brands?{|}We are the direct importer of our snowshoes; there are no middlemen. When you combine this with the fact that we order in very large bulk quantities, it gives us the ability to provide our snowshoes at much lower costs than our competitors without compromising on quality.
- I receive an unspecified error when trying to check out; what's causing this?{|}Our online payment system uses a Fraud Management system to ensure no purchases are made with stolen credit cards. Usually cart errors occur when a piece of personal information (like your name or address information) is entered incorrectly. To ensure that your payment is processed without error, please ensure that the information you enter exactly matches that of your credit card. If you're still receiving errors and your information is correct, feel free to give us a call and we can complete your order over the phone.
Snowshoe Specifics
- What type/size of shoe will the snowshoes hold?{|}Our snowshoes are equipped with a dual-ratchet binding system, as well as a fully adjustable heel strap. This makes it very easy to use your snowshoes with virtually any style of footwear. Whatever you're most comfortable in should work just fine!
- Are there different models for men/women?{|}No. All of our snowshoes are gender-neutral both in design and in colour. The same pair of snowshoes are good for men, women and children.
- I'm right on the edge of a weight range; what should I do?{|}One thing to remember is that winter clothing generally adds about 15 pounds, so if you weigh 150 lb, you should view your weight as 165 lb. With that in mind, if you find you're right near the top of a weight range, it's generally a good idea to go up a size. This ensures that you stay higher up on the snow; especially when carrying additional gear at times, or if your weight fluctuates from time-to-time.
- What's the difference between Adventure Sport and Elite?{|}Our Adventure Sport model is great for general recreational usage, as it will work well in most environments. Our Elite models are optimal in very light, deep, powdery snow. They are made from a lighter material and have a slightly different design, allowing for added performance in powdery conditions.
- What colour choices do I have for my snowshoes?{|}Unfortunately each size of snowshoe only comes in one colour. This helps us to simplify the manufacturing process, ensuring even bigger savings for our customers.
Accessories
- Do I really need snowshoe poles?{|}Snowshoe poles are quite helpful when going for hikes in the forest or other areas with uneven terrain (lots of steep hills, bumps, etc) as they can help you keep your balance when scaling these obstacles. When snowshoeing for long periods of time, the poles also help relieve stress on your legs and feet. In terms of necessity, you can still snowshoe just fine without poles, but the poles definitely help quite a bit.
- Can I use my snowshoe poles for things other than snowshoeing?{|}Certainly! Our poles come with two rubber attachments for the bottom that are ideal for summer walks. The flat attachments are great for everyday general walks, while the curved attachments with ridges are ideal for forest trails and hilly terrain.
- My poles won't stay locked in place; what should I do?{|}Sometimes a part on the inside of the poles will become a little loose; usually this can be fixed by turning the pole until it tightens. If after a minute or two the poles still aren't locking, loosen the poles completely until they pull apart and tighten the screw on the inside.
- What are Bigfoot Toques?{|}Bigfoot Toques are winter hats, sometimes referred to as "beanies" depending on where you're from. Our toques are made from acrylic and polyester with a padded inner liner to keep your ears toasty warm.
- Are the carrying bags big enough to carry poles?{|}The poles will fit into 25" bags and up. Unfortunately the 19" and 22" bags are too small to carry the poles.
